City College Norwich has formed a steering group to push forward with
their application to become a College of Sanctuary.

The college runs courses in ESOL for adults and teenagers and a large number of these students are refugees and asylum seekers. This year the college has linked up with Field of Joy and small groups of teenagers have been visiting the small-holding every week and enjoying taking part activities
there.

The college took part in Welcome Day this year with a beautifully
designed Welcome Poster, and we hope to run an event for Refugee
Week next year.

We will be running a stall at the Refugee Support Fair at the Forum at the end of June and our teenager ESOL students are also hosting a refugee drop-in session with tea and cake for refugees and support people at the end of this term.

The ESOL team are providing Cultural Awareness training to college staff and students and will be starting this off at the Staff Development Day in July.
