Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library โ€“ a Library of Sanctuary!

Norwich has a long tradition of being a city that welcomes refugees dating back to Elizabethan times, having welcomed the Protestant refugees fleeing persecution in the Catholic Low Countries. Norfolk & Norwich Millennium Library has harnessed the spirit of this tradition through its work with refugees of all ages, working with partners to raise awareness and support for refugees living in Norwich. We give a warm welcome to all members of the community, no matter what their backgrounds or where they come from. We offer membership and access to the librariesโ€™ facilities to members of the community who may have difficulty in producing proof of address we do this by offering a โ€˜Liteโ€™ membership. Customers with this level of membership can have immediate access the computers and to borrow books and other materials. We work with partners and community groups to raise awareness amongst Library users of the issues that people seeking sanctuary might face.
