Norwich Arts Stream was established in 2018.

The Arts Stream is managed by a steering group made up of local artists and representatives from organisations and groups including The Common Lot, Norwich Arts Centre, Norwich Theatre, Norfolk Library Services and UEA. All members share a passionate belief that art has the power to inspire positive social change, and play a key role in creating a culture of welcome.

Two of Norwich’s theatres have gained their ‘Theatre of Sanctuary’ awards – Norwich Arts Centre, Norwich Theatre, which includes the Playhouse and Stage Two, as well as The Common Lot Theatre Company. The theatres have provided their venues free of charge and included a diverse range of theatre productions, including acting opportunities for refugees in their programmes. They support our Arts Stream to help other local theatres become ‘Theatres of Sanctuary’: Norwich Puppet Theatre, Curious Directive and The Garage.
