Norfolk Welcomes’ is a day of action in June which aims to help teachers engage children in the complex issues surrounding the global refugee crisis. Organised by our Schools of Sanctuary stream, it gives schools the chance to lead productive discussions about migration, drawing parallels with Norwich’s history of welcoming refugees in the past.
Participating schools are provided with assembly materials, lesson plans and fundraising ideas.
Now in its 2nd year, ‘Norfolk Welcomes’ will take place on Friday 14 June, offering useful context in advance of Refugee Week (17-23 June 2019).
Last year, the inaugural Norfolk Welcomes saw over 60 schools across the county take part. This year it’s hoped even more school communities will join in. Find out more through Norwich Schools of Sanctuary.
